How to Install and Care for your Packaged Bees

Sunday March 8th, 10am-12pm

This course is for "newbies" or anyone that has not installed packages before.

How to Keep Honey Bees

Sunday April 5,  10am-2pm

Cost: $85

You will learn how to conduct a full hive exam, how to identify the different castes of the Honey bee, and how to spot and mark your queen! You will learn how to identify the various life stages of the Honey bee and how to spot brood disease in your bee hives. We will discuss the importance of record keeping and registering your Apiary. This class is suitable for beekeepers with little or no experience or those looking for a refresher course.

Maximize your Honey Production

Sunday April 26, 10am-2pm

Cost: $85
Sunday May 10, 10am-2pm

This course will help you prepare for honey flow to increase your honey yield. We will cover important properties of honey. You will learn some easy methods to produce your own comb honey.

Queen Rearing Basics

Saturday June 6, 10 am-4pm 

AND Sunday June 14, time TBD


AS PROMISED...I am hold a queen rearing basics course. It is said that you cannot truly call yourself a bee keeper until you can rear your own queens. This course will give you the skills to be able to rear your own queens from your strongest local stock.  You will be grafting and taking home your very own queen cell!

Please contact us directly by email, phone 604-341-8929 or through our Contact page. Once your payment is received your spot in our class is secured. Cheques can be made payable to Dancing Bee Apiary and mailed to 6328 264th St. Aldergrove V4W 1P4. If you prefer to pay by cash or credit card please call us at 604-341-8929 to arrange for your payment. We also accept payments via Interac email transfers to [email protected]

Please bring your own CLEAN protective gear. We have a selection of bee suits and veils available for purchase here if you don’t already have one. We will supply you with a hive tool and smoker for your use while you are here but if you want to practice lighting your own smoker you may also bring this item. Please wear appropriate clothes and footwear, we will be outside rain or shine. You will be working hands-on in the hives and you will get dirty. You can bring a notepad and pen, but the objective will be to have your hands in the hives; I will have handouts that you can review online using Dropbox and download for your own use. For each class you should bring your own chair if you may wish to sit for part of the class. We will provide small snacks and water throughout the class.
